Student Learning Outcomes

The General Education Program helps students become: 

  • Critical and integrative thinkers: Students should be able to synthesize and transfer learning to new, 复杂的 situations within and beyond the 太平洋 community.

CORE Seminars

太平洋通识教育核心课程介绍和发展可转移的批判性思维技能, problem solving, and oral and written communication that are crucial for personal, 学术, and professional success.

The Breadth Program (Areas of Inquiry)

The Areas of Inquiry are:

Artistic Process & 创建 courses give students an understanding of the creative arts through practice, 表演, 或分析, 为学生提供机会，通过创作和/或表演发展自己的创意声音，并通过艺术交流思想和信息. In this context, the creative arts are defined as including traditional visual arts, digital media, performing arts, and creative writing.

World Perspectives & 道德 courses guide students to learn about value systems, ways of being, and ways of understanding the world from multiple, international perspectives, and to reflect on their own worldview. 

学生可以满足GE的要求，先修课程达到4分或更高，高级国际文凭达到5分或更高. A maximum of 28 units total from Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, DANTES and/or CLEP test results may be applied toward a 太平洋 degree, including General Education breadth areas.

Students also choose at least one 多样性 & 包容 course.  

多样性 & 包容 courses may appear in any of the above categories, or in classes that count towards major or minor requirements. 多样性 & 包容 courses will help students to articulate, in both written and oral forms, how notions of difference work within frameworks of 社会 hierarchy.
